Bathroom Finishing Touches

Kinda fun to be down to the little things. Shower curtain (thanks, haley!) ...

Caulking and touch-up paint...

towel bars and mirrors (even though one shattered on the way home and had to be remade!) ...

and toilet-leveling.

The girls are already enjoying the extra shower - we now have 3!  Sure makes life easier around here.

Going Blind(s)

Well, we thought through a zillion options for window coverings upstairs, and finally took the plunge on custom blinds to match what we have downstairs.  Definitely an investment - isn't that what you call it when something costs a lot? - but we're super-happy with the quality, look, and function.

I don't do much of the manual labor around here, but I decided to tackle the blinds.  And I gave up on the impact driver several times and went with a screwdriver. HA!

But with some great help, we got it done!

Custom Closets!

Quite a luxury to have custom-built closets. :-) James took the girls upstairs, did some talking and measuring, and made their dreams come to life. :-)

And, yes, I have rammed my head on that board more than five times...

Once all the shelves were cut, the girls got to work painting everything.

Ta-da!

Lights, finally.

After endless hours of internet searches, one returned purchase, and several weeks, we have vanity lighting.  And, hilariously (?), they're almost identical to the ones hastily chosen for the guest bathroom.  Guess we have a style...

Models demonstrating the effectiveness of the lights. :-)

The Most Important Bathroom Fixture of All

It's toilet time!

The excitement is palpable!

And there it is... :-)

Stair Skirts?

I had never heard the term "stair skirt", but after Jeff mentioned that we needed to do them, I started seeing them everywhere.  HA!  So James got to work!

They got a preliminary coat of paint. Looking good!

Just waiting to show itself...

James started hooking up the sinks in the girls' bathroom. Woohoo!  And everything was going swimmingly. Until...

...the girls noticed a small stream of water in the dining room downstairs.  Yup.  There's a leak somewhere...  So James headed into the attic to access the plumbing from the backside. Nothing there.

Then to the laundry room ceiling to search there. And there it was.  A wayward nail in the drain pipe.

Here's the fun part. He did that plumbing in 2011(!) and it's been waiting for fixtures upstairs!  And the last time the nail gun was in action around there was 2017 - maybe as far back as 2013.  Fun times just waiting to be had.

After the girls and I making 4 trips into Home Depot and Lowes "on our way home" from church, the leak is fixed, the plumbing is back in order, and we can move forward!
