James got back to work finishing the rest of the staining. (I even jumped in to help for a while!)

Cabinets, Day 3 - Stain

Tom was working elsewhere today, so James got to work staining the cabinets. The faster we can get these stained and sealed, the less we have to stress about the wood getting water damage (and the faster we can move back in!) 

It went quickly!  And we're really pleased with the warmth of the wood with the paint color and the tile. All coming together!

Wanted to document life with a partial kitchen. Things are a *bit* inconvenient.

But, man, what a long-awaited inconvenience! I'll take it!!

Cabinets, Day 2 - Trim

Tom had other work the next day, so we took the opportunity to head to the Wichitas for a family hike - at the birthday girl's request. We had a wonderful day!  But now it's time to get back to work. 

And it happened fast!  Trim done

And then crown - what a difference it makes!

And Tom added this on the end to match the end of the island. Brilliant! (And beautiful!)

Cabinets, Day 1

The girls and I headed to Mom's to stay out of the way, and Tom got to work bright and early. 

He works fast!

Day 1!  All the cabinet frames done!

Darcy was SO tired when we finally got back home. She found a nice, low shelf to rest in. Time for bed, baby. 

Tomorrow, Tomorrow!!

I can't believe it. Truly.  It's time to get kitchen cabinets!!! Our carpenter, Tom, came to measure and figure out the final layout.  So.many.decisions.  But so exciting. 

And here was my fancy picture of what we came up with for the area around the stove. HA!

Time to dismantle everything!

Megan asked if she could get some drill practice in.  James happily obliged.
