More demo today

Well, remember that wall where the toilet was? Well, you're looking at it. Or rather, where it used to be.  This is going to be the entry from the garage, and you'll walk right through that mirror into the dining room/kitchen.  Wouldn't that be cool if you really could? Like the Wardrobe??

Anyway, it's fun to see walls coming down. Makes it so much easier to picture the future results.

The Birds' Nest

Remember the bird issues we've had around here? Well, with Spring arriving, so were the birds, fortifying their nest inside the walls of the garage.  Well, James said, "No more."

He tore off the frame and dug out the whole nest -- don't worry, there weren't any eggs harmed.  Then sealed up the hole. The birds have been sitting up above, trying to figure out a way back in, but not here, folks. Not here...

New Water Lines!!

Only one pic today, but it's a dandy.
New water line are in place for hot (red) and cold (blue) water in the laundry room and guest bathroom. They're currently being molded into their necessary shape, so James has some frames built for them.  But it won't look quite that complicated soon.

The Brown Bathroom

This bathroom is SO ugly.  It's James' clean-up-after-working bathroom, and the official "second working bathroom" in the house, but it is not my favorite place.  Today, it's getting destroyed!

The toilet joined our backyard decor. Isn't it lovely?

Next up, the tile has to go.  YAY!!!!

Here's Lily, checking up on the work again.

And with the tile gone, down came the sheet rock, exposing some beautiful plumbing.
We're trying to find the water lines...

Filling back in

The drain lines are in place for the washer, tub, toilet, and sinks.
Time to cover them back up with the carefully preserved dirt.

And a new ditch has been created --
no jackhammer this time, just a sledgehammer and some serious muscle.

Getting my laundry room back...

Well, for a couple of days, at least.

It's not pretty (yet) but it works! And here's Lily coming in to check out the progress:

Proof

James spends a lot of time doing this...thinking, planning, figuring, thinking some more.

And the girls spend lots of time doing this...watching, wondering, "helping," questioning, encouraging, and cheering.

But in the end, there's proof that something got done:

Impressive, eh?
